The Nurse's Nook

As a rural health care provider, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital recognizes that Oconto County students are not just local children – they are our patients too! In 2017, The Nurse’s Nook became a program of HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital.

The Nurse’s Nook provides aid to children and families in need throughout all schools in Oconto County, including: Gillett, Lena, Oconto, Oconto Falls, Suring and Pulaski (Fairview & Sunnyside Elementary Schools). Children in need can talk with their school counselor and/or nurse to receive program assistance. For school-specific contact information, click here.
Items, made possible through donations, are stocked within each of the school districts throughout the year and are provided to students free-of-charge, as needs are identified. The program is confidential, has no income restrictions and is open to all students attending school in Oconto County.

Examples of assistance include:
  • non-perishable food
  • personal hygiene and basic need products
  • clothing
  • medical supplies/devices
  • vouchers for transportation to medical appointments
The Nurse’s Nook relies on support from the HSHS St. Clare Foundation and donations from the community to operate. Monetary and in-kind donations are considered charitable contributions and tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
