The HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital Center for Digestive Health team treats patients of varying ages from late teens to geriatrics, who have digestive disorders that involve the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, pancreas, gallbladder and liver.

Our Center for Digestive Health is located within the surgical services department of the hospital. The center has one procedure room, and shares three pre-operative rooms and four bays for recovery with the surgical services department. Anesthesia sedation is available to every patient receiving care at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital.

The process

We want to make sure patients understand what to expect when they need to undergo a procedure. As a result, patients are contacted by our pre-admission registered nurse prior to a scheduled procedure. You can expect this person to review the following information with you:

  • Date and time of procedure
  • Health history
  • Home medications
  • Allergies
  • Preparation instructions
  • Address questions or concerns
  • Verify you have a ride home following the procedure

If it’s time for your colonoscopy or if you think you have a digestive health disorder, please contact your primary care doctor for an initial evaluation.
